sonoran sun resort I had a great time, it\'s beuatifull there and we loved it. The only thing is that it got cold at night and the heat would not go past 69 and the dryer wouldn\'t work which I think was lame; however everyone there was so nice and we enjoyed ourselves and will definatley be back!

Poor security This was my third stay at the Sun, I choose to stay there because it is beautiful and I feel safe...not any more!!! My two girlfriends and I stayed in a nice 1 bedroom from Oct 9th through Oct 12 but on Saturday morning when getting into the car to go to Rocky Point my girlfriend noticed that her interior car door was damaged. Upon further inspection you could see where someone tried to break into the car. After speaking to the head of security he pulled the video of the previous day to take a look. The video was a joke, it was fuzzy and you couldn\'t even tell what type of cars were in the parking lot let alone see someone trying to breaking in. Needless to say no one got any sleep the remainder of our stay, we took turns doing our own security surveilance all night. For a gated, secure resort it was not safe, who could have done this, quest or staff???

Nice resort, beautiful beach, will come back Very happy with the resort, and the accomodations. Eat at the restaurant on site, it is very nice and good food. The only thing I have a complaint about is that when we checked in we only received towels for one bathroom and no pillow cases; 4 of us stayed in a 2bedroom 2 bath unite. We did finally receive towels but never any pillow cases. Also we had to request toliet paper, and there was no kleenex in the rooms.

Beautiful condo We stayed in # W111 and the condo was beautiful. We loved walking in and looking right thru to the water. The condo was beautifully furnished and very well equipped. Thank you we truly enjoyed our first visit to Puerto Penasco and hope to return soon.

Bad Service We stayed in unit 108SW over Thanksgiving. When we first got there, the unit did not have any coffee cups, frying pans or knives. They did get us the fyring pans & knives, but we never got the coffee cups even after asking twice a day for 4 days. We finally got maid service after asking a couple of times and the front desk people are no help. Some of our friends had other units the same weekend and their units were fine. It is a crap shoot. Some units are well stocked and others are not. I will probably try another resort next time instead.

unit 310 We have stayed at all the \"sonoran\" resorts over the past 5 years and they are all luxurious. My only complaint this year was the showers coming up from the beach were not in working order, also we stayed in a 1 bedroom which should be able to sleep 2/2. The condo we were in did not supply any extra bedding i.e. blankets and pillows and sheets for the pull out couch so my kids were not as comfortable as we were. The restaraunt was absolutely delish. The weekend went too fast.

Excellet First Time Trip to Rocky Point! My boyfriend and I went down to Rocky Point for the first time over the weekend and we were amazed! We stayed in the Sonoran Sun in a one bedroom condo for three days and it felt like home! We were so impressed by the quality of the room, its amenities inside the room such as a washer/dryer, microwave, refrigerator, and not to mention the fantastic view of the ocean. After talking to several other quests, the Sonoran Sun is the resort they come to year after year. They even book the same room each time! We will be back for sure!
I only have two improvements for the Sonoran Sun. I wish I had known that they do not provide beach towels for the pool/beach area before I left for the trip. Within our first hour of arrival, we had to go back into town, which we were unfamiliar with, and drive around trying to track some sort of towels down. The second improvement the Sonoran Sun can make is since we were new to the area; I wish we had been provided some sort of map with local attractions and shops. We ended up getting a map from another resort that later helped us find restaurants, shopping and attractions the next day. I felt we wasted several hours trying to drive around to find beach towels. Something I could have brought from home for free.

Great Condo, Bad Resort Our condo/1B1B room was the nicest we\'ve ever stayed in. The owners have fabulous taste, and everything was very comfortable. The resort, itself, was the worst we\'ve ever stayed in. The customer service was terrible (extremely slow, rude, and we were continually short changed in the restaurant and the bar). While the condo was reasonably priced, the resort\'s bars, restaurant, and convenient store was very expensive. Additionally, while the swimming pool is gorgeous to look at, it is way too hot. It was impossible to get cooled from the extremem heat while in the pool. Even though we loved our room, we will not be going back to the Sonoran Sun again.

Had a good time Stayed at the Sonoran Sun for 2 nights, the room was very clean, and stocked well, however we couldn\'t get a blanket for the hide-a-bed and the DVD player didn\'t work but other than that the view was gorgeous and the pools were great! I would stay there again.

3 bedroom ground floor This past weekend my husband with our kids and another couple with their kids stayed at the Sonran Sun. We have stayed at the Sonran Sun one other time before and absolutely loved it. This time we had a hard time getting hot water. We checked in on Friday and we didn\'t have hot water in our condo until Sunday afternoon. That was upsetting to us especially when we asked about the hot water on Saturday and nobody came on Saturday so we had to complain again on Sunday. We love the Sonoran Sun and will most likely stay there again, but hopefully this won\'t happen again.

Lack of Maintenance We have been staying at the SS for a few years and have noticed a steady deterioration in maintenance. Our last experience we noticed light bulbs out in outside hallways; requested second key for two days and never received which caused us inconvenience. The condo was not clean. Condo waste cans were not picked up every day. When we arrived bedroom closet doors wouldn\'t open. Maintenance came and opened them and said they would be back the next day to repair. They never showed up.

Sonoran Sun Condo SW 901 We have stayed at several of the Sonoran Condos to include Sonorant Spa, 2 units at Sonoran Sea and now the Sun and I have to say that the 2 units at the Sonran Sea were far supeerior to our most recent stay at the Sun. I felt the condo we had this time lacked the ambiance of the others and was not as well equipped. We will be visiting Rocky Point again but will absolutely request one of the two condos we stayed in at the Sea.

Good Time - Condo Could be WAY Better We just returned from our first stay at the Sonoran Sun (707 SE). To me, staying here was like a camping trip in a Condo. You are completely at the mercy of the Condo owner and have no idea when you get the Condo you get how the Condo will be stocked or what will work or not work. Yes, the view is beautiful, the pool is nice and the beach is steps away and all of that is FABULOUS. But, as for the accomodations it is a crap shoot. Our Condo was sparsely stocked - which wasn't a big shock, but there weren't even blankets for the beds - only the heavy comforter that was used to make up the bed was provided for a blanket. On top of that the sheets were stained. Also, the washer and dryer did not work in the Condo - Good thing I wasn't counting on them working. As other people said in other reviews the staff is non-responsive when you need an item/assistance (i.e. toilet paper or light bulbs). My advise, don't have high hopes for the Condo unless you have a referal or have stayed in that particular unit before and if you want your stay to be comfortable bring EVERYTHING that you want that you feel will make your stay what you want it to be. Next time, I'll be bringing clean sheets from home!

Beautiful Prestine Property We just stayed for 5 nights. I was very impressed with the property. From the cleaniness to the security. We had a great time and will return. We stayed on the ground floor west wing. Great location. Quieter than the East side where the warm pool was. Many more people hang out over there.
Ate at the restaurant the food was great. Also ate at the port on the water, food also good. For cheaper food eat at the open restaurant on the right side of the main road, there are 2 next to each other. We ate at the last one on the right, on your way to the port. The fish tacos were great and dinner for 4 only cost $17.

best carne asada toco's The swim up bar at the Sonoran Sun has the best Carne Asada Taco's around. There is a happy hour special 2-4 which has special deals on them. This was our second time to Rocky Point and we stayed both times at the Sonoran Sun. I would rate it a 10. Awesome place. Can't wait to go again!!!

Family Fun in W906 Our condo was clean, beautiful and perfect for our family of 6!! The pools were wonderful and the kids had fun using them all, (the warm pool, cool pool and the hot tubs). The beach was awesome: seashells, sandcastles and hermit crabs - fun for everyone. I highly recommend this resort(remember to bring bedding for hide-a-beds). We will be back.

Off Season Secret We just spent three nights (Jan 11-13) with very few people around. What a great, relaxing weekend! We had the beach and pool area to ourselves - no vendors! The sun and breezes were perfect (maybe a little bit cool) for two busy executives to just vege out and recharge. The condo was great, the staff friendly and the restaurant was just right. This is the best property of the bunch! We will be back.....

reservations At The Point I just took my family to Rocky Point the weekend of Dec 7th and stayed at Sonoran Sun on the 10th floor.Everything was great!!! condo was perfect,workers,and staff were exceptional!! no complaints at all. The pool was heated and we had Happy Hour at the swim-up bar and the batender was a perfect host!!!! I would definetly go back!! Brett (on the reservation phone)was more than helpful with me to find the rooms that I picked and they were just as nice as he said!!!Great Job!! and it made our family vacation a GREAT ONE!!! It was such a relaxing and enjoyable experience we are definitely going back again this year. Less than satisfactory service We have stayed at all three of the Sonoran Resorts and have found the other two resorts much more to our liking. What irritated me most was that I had left a tip for the maid on our 2nd day there. Came in to find the money gone out of the envelope but nothing had been done including giving us toilet paper, we had none. I went to the office to complain and they said the maid would bring it right up. We never got the toilet paper!

The Best Resort in Rocky Point Best place I have stayed in Rocky Point. The room was very clean and huge! It was hard to leave the room. The pool was so relaxing and the ocean was beautiful. We rented jet ski's and ATV's. The kids had a blast riding the banana boat. We were a very short drive into town. I may buy my own condo down there!

Be warned...stay away from SW712 Penthouse!!!!! We have rented condos through SonoranSeaCondo for many years and have stayed at the Spa & Sea and never had a problem with the rental units. However, this condo was a nightmare! Great views but run down condo! We rented for a week and were not comfortable the whole time. Just to name a few problems...Couch was dirty and stinky, jucuzzi on patio did not work, water cooler broke, poorly stocked kitchen, no salt or pepper, No blender,toaster broke, uncomfortable beds, & furniture, window blinds broke, bed sheets in poor condition & pillows smelled bad! Not exactly what you would call a elegantly furnished penthouse(as advertised)! We will not recommend this condo to family & friends and we won't be back!

Noisy Vacation We spent a week @ Sonoran Sun. Our condo was on the top floor. We found the condo to be very noisy. The weather was windy and we discovered this caused objects on the top floor to shake, rattle and roll all night long! We also lived with a broken refrigerator for two days. The front desk kept telling us they would fix it but it took over 18 hrs! Housekeeping consisted of replacing the towels daily. No beds were made, floors were never swept and we had to finally go to the front desk for toilet paper. But there was an envelope left for a tip! We wouldn't return to this resort.

All our vacations will be at the Sonora Sun Over the last 7 years I have gone to Rocky Point with the family for vacation and have stayed at several different hotels and resorts. Our last stay was with the Sonora Sun and was our best stay. We will plan all of our future vacations at the Sonora Sun. The rooms were excellent and the pool area was great for everyone. It was clean and well maintained. There was always staff or security on hand for any of our questions or needs. I highly recommend everyone to stay at the Sonora Sun.

What an oasis and lovely resort... We recently returned from a visit to the "Sea" renting both a 1B1B and 3B2B suite. Loved everything about it. Pool could stay open a bit later than 10:00PM. Met many helpful staff members and the property is kept prestine.
Have already made reservations to visit "Sea" in November to see difference in seasons and properties. Will report back then.

More than expected We stayed at Senoran Sun for the bike rally. It was fantastic! Had 4 friends visiting from the mid-west and was uncertain to the quality of the condo. Many who are familar with Rocky Point know that it is often a gamble to whether or not you will have a decent place to stay or a place that you share with the bugs. Well this condo was awesome. We all were very impressed with the accomidations; Very well decorated, clean, and an awesome ocean view. We had a very easy check-in and even had no problem getting an extra blanket when we needed it. The pool area was kept very clean the entire weekend. We will be staying there again this year!

MISERABLE WEEKEND WE HAD RESERVATIONS FROM AUG 30 2007 LEAVING SEPT 3.FROM THE MINUTE WE GOT THERE THE ELECTRIC STARTING GOING OFF IN THE ENTIRE BUILDING.IT STAYED OFF ANYWHERE FROM 30 MINUTES TO 10 MINUTES EACH TIME.THIS WENT ON FROM THURSDAY TILL SUNDAY COUNTING AT LEAST 15 TIMES WHO KNOWS HOW MANY OTHER TIMES SINCE WE WERNT IN THE CONDO THE ENTIRE TIME.THAT WAS ONLY THE START.THEN THE WATER WENT OFF IN SOME OF THE CONDOS (OURS WAS ONE)THAT ONLY HAPPENED ONCE BUT WAS STILL AN INCONVIENCE.THEN WE WOKE UP SATURDAY TO FIND 3/4 OF THE POOL SO GREEN THEY HAD TO SHUT IT DOWN.SOUNDS LIKE NEGLECT TO ME.THEY DID HAVE ONE SMALLER SECTION OF THE POOL OPEN SO THAT HELPED.THIS WAS LABOR DAY WEEKEND IT WAS VERY HOT AND A LOT OF PEOPLE WERE THERE.ITS SEEMS THERE NOT EQUIPED TO HANDLE THAT TYPE OF LOAD.IF THEY DONT TAKE STEPS TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM ITS SURE TO HAPPEN AGAIN UNDER THE SAME CIRCUMSTANCES.IF I DO GO BACK AGAIN I WILL BE SELECTIVE ON THE TIMES OF THE YEAR WHEN THERE NOT SO BUSY.I DID END MY TRIP A DAY EARLY.

Fun in the sun and what a view..... We just returned from our first visit to Puerto Penasco (7/29 - 8/1/07) and have already made return reservations for November. The Sun and our condo (SW512) were luxurous and well-appointed. The staff was attentive and even let us print-out our airline boarding passes at their computers on our departure day. We're going to try the Sea in November and are sure that it will be just as wonderful. Thanks to everyone for making this and many vacations to come such a memorable experience. Adios' and Ole'

Resort Review We stayed in room E1004 during July and loved it. The room was fabulous along with the view of the pool and beach. The only issue we had was the daily cleaning service. We tipped her pretty good and we did most of her work because of the lack of it on her end. Lesson learned. We would stay here again with no questions. The food in the restaurant at the resort was ok, a little pricey but after along day on the road it hit the spot.

Wonderful weekend We stayed at the Sonoran Sun for the first time last weekend. The resort was beautiful and the service was very good. We appreciated that our condo was available for early check-in so we could get our weekend started right away! We enjoyed the pool very much, beach side ocean view was great, and the condo was top of the line! We will definitely stay at the Sonoran Sun again in the future.

We had fun!!!! This was our second visit to Rocky Point. And we were pleasantly surprised how nice the resort was. The condo was awesome and all the amenities were outstanding. The restaurant was only okay, though. We ended up waiting for our food TO GO for an hour!!!!
Other than that we would absolutly recommend this resort to everybody.

Fun in the Sun My family and I as well as 2 other families stayed at Sonoran Sun in June 2007. The resort is fantastic - rooms are very nice, beds are extremely comfortable, and the proximity to the beach is awesome. Some of the rooms are better than others - one of our rooms had very little in the way of dishes and pots/pans. Being that most people do tend to eat most of their meals in the condos, this is very important. My only complaint would be that we never received any maid service (fresh towels/garbage pickup) for our entire 4-day stay. We did voice our need several times to several different maids and even the front desk...to no avail. However, upon my return when I e-mailed the management, they are going to refund us the "cleaning" fee we paid for each day. Fair enough...appreciate them "making things right!" This was our 2nd trip to Rocky Point and we will definitely be back!!!

Thank you! My husband and I have been to Rocky Point over a dozen times in the past 10 years, but it was our first time visiting Sonoran Sun. It was my father's first time visiting Mexico so we wanted everything to be perfect so he would come back in the future. We felt right at home from the moment we walked in the door of our unit. You can't beat the view! The service was excellent from the pool bar attendant to the housekeeping staff and security. We loved the live music and enjoyed the pool everyday. We will be back! Thanks!

service We could only get maid service if we asked at least twice in a day and then we didn't get everything we asked for. On the last day we ran out of toliet paper and they could only find us two rolls with only about a quarter of the paper on it. The condo was wonderful but the service sucks! The condos need to have dish towels and rags if they want you to keep them clean!!!!

The best hotel EVER!!!!! Okay, service is wonderful! There is alot of room/space. The bed sheets are incredibly soft. The beach is beautiful. The view- oh god, the view is amazing. The restaurant was way too expensive for what they served. 21 dollars for a shirmp dish is so wrong I mean come on look where your at! Other than that it was a great place. Need to come down on the prices of there margaritas and food! I will be staying there again and again I'll just bring my own food. Cause the rooms are so great!

Great resort better restaurant We got an end unit wrap around which had a view unlike any I had ever seen. But the food and service at the restaurant "El Catorce" was incredible it was nice not having to go out of the resort to eat. Would recommend it to anyone.

Pleasantly Suprised we were undecided which resort to stay at and read all the recent reviews...unsure because of the dirty pool comments...mention of trash and unfriendly staff - we doubted going to rocky point. However we has a great time and was suprised (based on reviews) how clean the pool was - how professional the staff was and the condo was AMAZING...so if considering where to stay I would say...Sonoran Sun all the way!!!!

The Best Yet! My wife, Roberta, and I have travelled all over this hemisphere only to find our favorite place just a few hours down the road from our home in Glendale. The Sonoran Sun is well appointed, with all the necessary amenities, but has none of the crowd. The beach is awesome, the pool facility clean, and the restaurant and store complemented the experience nicely. But my favorites are the view and listening to the surf. None better!

Tried again This was my 2nd stay. My first was not to good with the fire works and kid running and making noise half the night. the condo I got last time was furnished to the very min. This time we were given #511 in the west building and the owner did a great job on the interior. The problem was the maintance by the sun, the fans had two different types of light bulbs and a wobble so it could only be used on low, it was over 100 degrees each day. The air conditioner is so loud it is hard to sleep, and there was no hot water in the shower because the shower faucet is broken. The built in hair dryer was broken, but the tv worked this time which was nice. I really think with all the people they have walking around the pool area, they could try to keep the area a little nicer by cleaning up after the slobs who stay there and throw their trash any place they want. Would I stay there again, the answer is yes. I like the area It has good rates, just keep trying to find the condo that everthing works. One thing for sure stay out of there resturant. It is the worst. I tried it two times and both were bad. There are much better places in town.

Nothing special My husband and I stayed at the Sonoran Sun last week- it was nothing special! This was the first time we stayed at a condo/time share resort. We are used to staying in regular hotels, so we were shocked to find out that the maid would not clean daily. Also, when we made the reservation no one told us that there would be no shade by the pool. It was horrible; we couldn't lounge for more than 2 minutes. We drove to town to find a beach umbrella, but couldn't find any. Also, the room towels were not changed on a daily basis. The restaurant was not that good- I am Mexican and I can spot canned refried beans from a mile away. The prices were pretty high but the service was great. I am used to room and pool side service and found it greatly disappointing that none of the two were offered.

Sonoran Sea Condo Our condo was awesome. The entire trip was great and the water is beautiful. The only complaint is the fireworks that were going off on the beach late at night while we were trying to sleep. I called the front desk and they didn't do anything about it. Other than that everyone was very friendly and we all had a wonderful time.

The Sonoran Sun Resort is Great !! The Sonoran Sun Resort is so Beautiful!! The Condos are very spacious and very clean!! The staff there is very polite and very helpful. The pool is huge and very well kept. I highly recommend this resort to everyone!!!

Inconsistency with services I have stayed in all of the Sonoran Resorts and have had the same problem each time - there is no consistency from one room to the next. I have had kitchen towels, dish soap, paper towels, coffee filters in one and none in another. We never know what to bring - by the time we get settled and realize, we don't want to shop for those items in town so we spend a fortune at the tiendita. And it is not like each room has a phone to ask for these items - once again no consistency. I think property management could do a much better job for what they are getting paid.

Maintenance and Housekeeping issues We have stayed at the sonoran Sea and Spa in the past and never had any maintenance or housekeeping issues at all. this trip however, I did not find the front desk staff friendly or helpful at all. When we arrived at the condo,the lock was broken first of all and we had to go back downstairs to get maintenance and new keys made. When we got inside, I noticed that the washer and dryer were both going. Inside were towels that I had to wash and dry,fold and put away myself. It gets better,then I had to put away the dishes from the previous tenant which were in the dishwasher. There was no toliet paper,paper towels or water in the condo. The shower curtain kept falling down while we were there,it was 60 inches in a 72 inch space. Maintenance kept coming up and putting it back up instead of replacing it. the front desk help ask the same question when you let them know about any problem,"Are you the owner?" apparently,it does make A Difference to them if you are. all maintenance and housekeeping issues had to be addressed several times with the desk. finally I gave up and found Denise,housekeeper,who was quite helpful.

Sonoran Sun My wife and I just got back from our vacation at the Sonoran Sun. I have to say that I was very dissappointed in the fact that there were NO window shades or coverings in the Master bedroom and living room area. We rented a three bedroom unit (us and our four sons). Needless to say we had NO privacy in our bedroom (unit 301)and the sun would wake us in the morning as well as the construction of a new high rise hotel next door which was noisy and visible from the dining living room area (no window coverings as well). For this reason I have to say we would not stay at the "Sun" again. I really do not understand how the owners of this unit would rent it out without having completed the furnishings we feel should have been required!! Also the ceiling fans on the outside patio had not been installed

Nice place the resort is nice, new, but the service and maintenance is horrible, we arrived from phoenix around 10:00 in the morning, but did not get the keys until 4:00, they kept saying that sat was busy, then they said the same thing on sunday and so forth, but everybody was standing around and doing nothing, I don't really like this owners deal because the staff is not helpful and blames everything on the owners, no kleenex, the toilet paper holder was broken, the dishes were dirty in the dishwasher, the toaster was broken, we had the garbage and towels service only one time, even though we kept going downstairs to complain, the staff does not do anything and not friendly at all, do you know that they take 35% of the rental fees for maintenaing the condos??? might not go back...

Absolutely amazing This was my first time staying at the Sonoran Sun and will definitely not be the last. I went down with a group of 25 friends and we all had amazing condos. They were more than we could have ever dreamed of, especially for the price. Can't wait to go back!!

Sonoran Sun Beautiful condo with everything you need.
Supermarket on site needs more variety of stock.
Would not recommend eating at the bar side pool.
More shade areas needed at pool side ,ie some umbrellas. The resort needs to have chairs /loungers availble to use/rent, so you can take them to the beach or the lovely shaded umbrellas that are on the beach already!
Overall impression was good. will return , maybe try another resort next time

Breathtaking View The view was amazing from our balcony; from every aspect, the trip was fabulous. We loved the condo at the Sonoran Sun, it was gorgeous. We've been going to Rocky Point for about 20 years now, and I must say this trip was the best ever. From check-in to check-out and even making the reservation itself through the good people at reservationsatthepoint.com was hassle-free and simple. Can't wait till next year!

Beautiful place, slow service This place is beautiful and I highly recommend getting one of the penthouse suites which includes a gorgeous wrap-around deck overlooking the ocean and poolside. We had a problem with our hot water the whole time we were there. We only had hot water one day out of the 4 1/2 of our stay. Luckily we had a hot tub on the deck that we would put our kids in since a cold bath wasn't something we could convince them to do. It is hard to complain when you have a plasma screen TV in the living room and a hot tub on the deck. But needless to say hot water would have been nice. We notified the desk several times, actually had repairmen show up once, it worked for a short time and then nothing. Evidently, these kind of problems are typical.

Great Place to Stay This was our first time staying at a Resort in Rocky Point and it was wonderful. The 1BR condo was perfect for the two of us. We were on the 6th floor and the view was great. It was not noisy at all, some fireworks before 10pm but heard nothing after. The pools close at 9:45pm and they are strict about it. We never ate at the resturant or the cantina. But we did have a few drinks at the swim up bar which was nice. Check-in and Check-out was smooth. The pools and hot tubs were great. Especially the heated pool. Great seating in the pool so you don't have to always stand. I would definitly stay again.

Good and Bad The place was absolutely beautiful. I was disapointed to find there was not any sand volleyball courts when I thought I had read that they had one. Also,the hot tub and pool hours were odd. I was ready to jump in the pool first thing in the morning, only to be told it was closed. Otherwise my stay was enjoyable and very nice.

Management Questionable The unit and accomadations were wonderful, however, the management needs alot of work. We arrived on a Wednesday, we ended up in a room that we did not reserve. The room that was reserved was already booked. So that was the start. On Thursday, my husband was in the room and a "teenager" came in our condo with a key saying that he had stayed here before and that he forgot something and the front desk gave him the key. Needless to say, that is why we did not get 2 keys upon check in. They(management) hadn't properly collected all keys upon someones check out. What would have happened if my husband had not been in the condo at the time of his enterance? Safety is a very big part of this, and I felt violated. Also, we told the front desk two seperate times that the drain in the bathtub/shower did not drain, my children were standing in calf high water. This was never taken care of in the whole 5 days that we were there. They assured us upon check out that it would be taken care of. Alot of good that did us during our stay.
The resort itself was good, they need more trash cans down by the pool areas and on each floor by the elevators, it would help keep things neat and clean. Also, alot of the staff had trouble understanding or communicating in english to us what they were trying to say or get across. Also, some type of shading around the pool would be helpful for the children.

All great except bed This was our first trip to Rocky Point and we stayed at the Sonora Sun. The resort was beautiful, everything was great except for the mattress in our room. It was a thin, cheap mattress wrapped in plastic with rough sheets. I was disappointed that the owners would provide a terrible night's sleep in otherwise fabulous surroundings.

No ambience Food was good but too expensive.
Music was horrible american music with the volume so loud that you couldn't have a conversation. Only to make it even worse by having a below average talented whining young girl singing about her depressing small town life in a squeeky voice during her fathers band break again at a high volume. Several people walked in and left.
Decor of the hotel and restaurant was very beautiful, but lacked ambience.

Beautiful Resort! This was our first time at Sonoran Sun Resort and we were just as impressed - if not more - with the resort. We usually stay at the Sonoran Sea, but this one offers a few extras. It has a very good restaurant which also services the pool bar. There was live music in the evening at the restaurant which added to the atmosphere. The gentlemen at the pool bar came to our patios (ground floor) and offered us their 2 for 1 drink specials. He serviced all of the patios regularly - it was great being waited on! The grounds are as beautiful and clean as the Sonoran Sea - and the layout is exactly the same as the Sonoran Sea. The maid service was great - we asked for extra sheets and they were prompt! It was a great visit and I can't wait to get back!

horrible experience We were booked at this resort from3/16-3/19. the first night no one could sleep becasue of the noise outside the condo. partying until 4am and we had been told when we made the reservation that the rented to no one under 25. the next day at the restaurant, one of our guests tried to pay with two different credit cards and they did not go through, causing him all kinds of embarrassement. these credit cards were fine the night before and later in the day at a restaurant in town, but we got no help from the dining room or the business office when we complained. we checked out on 3/17 and drove back to scottsdale. we lost all of our investment in what was to be a wonderful week end and a much needed vacation for one of us who has been dealing with terminal cancer in the family. i would not recommend this resort to anyone. a sad lesson for all of us

Beautiful Place to Stay, But.... We rented a 2 bedroom penthouse and stayed for 3 nights. The resort is beautiful and well maintained. The room was extremely nice, decorated and furnished beautifully. However, from what the front desk told us, is that we were the first renters. That was the reason there were no hangers, and no water receptable, but we were provided with a 5 gallon water container.
When we went to the front desk we were told it was the owners' responsibility to provided those things. The front desk person said he will try to find a water receptable and deliver it to us. When we checked out the same front desk person seemed surprised that we never received the receptable. He said he went out and bought one. Well, we didn't believe that.
Other than these 2 inconveniences, we had a great time. The views were fabulous! The resort restaurant has great food and the personnel was very courteous. We would definitely stay here again. I think the water receptable and hanger problem was not typical. We were the first renters and that's understandable about the oversight by the owners.

Very Nice Resort This was our first trip to Rocky Point and we enjoyed it very much. We were aprehensive about traveling in Mexico but found it very easy. The Sonoran Sun was very nice. We had a 2 BR, 2 Bath Penthouse and it was furnished very nice. The sun deck was very large and had its own hot tub. We made use of the heated pool and hot tub on the ground and found them very enjoyable. Just made sure you hold on to the railing when you take your first step into the hot tub by the pool. The step is much deeper than one would expect and it is easy to fall. The beach is very wide with excellent sand. I would definitely return to this resort.

our weekend at the Sonoran Sun We stayed at the Sonoran Sun this past weekend and I must say I was pleasantly suprised of the overall quality. The penthouse blew us away with its interior decor and breathe taking view from an enlarged patio over looking the water. We had dinner and breakfast on site, the food was great for what's offered at Rocky Point; however the breakfast could use a little work. We had a few small inconveniences such as the road to and from the resort is still mostly unpaved, lack of dummy proof road signs (1st timers to Rocky Point arriving at night may be difficult, no phone lines on our side of the building (will be fixed very soon), also plan on spending more money for a tax ride from and to the resorts in that area. All and all a good experience we'll definately be coming back and have already told others.

Great Place!!! My boyfriend and I planned a weekend getaway. Sonoran Sea was recommended to us but we chose the Sun since it was new. The service was excellent and very attentive! Everyone was very nice with the exception of the bartender at Adobe and he doesn't smile and is not very friendly. The rest of the staff has superior service skills! The place is gorgeous and we had a great time. The only thing I would recommend is the food quality needs to be a little better at the Adobe restaurant. We ate there first night and did not return. We ate at the Sonoran Grill (at the Sonoran Spa) another night and the food and service was excellent. Thank you for great memories! We will be back!

Location, location, location! The resort is situated perfectly on the beach, and they were very wise in how they constructed the towers allowing each room with a ocean view. The condo we stayed in was very nice. The pool is gorgeous. What a great combination to have access to the pool and sandy beach and enjoy both at the same time. Security personnel were present at all times and took their jobs seriously. The restaurant needs work however, as does the convenience store. Bottom line though, we'll be back.

Great place to visit We stayed 3 nites the last week of Dec 05 and had a great time. We had a 1 bedroom corner unit (514E) which was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Beach and pool area were great. We would definitely stay again.

mid week in December As regular patrons of the Sonoran Spa, we decided to spend our annual midweek December trip to Rocky Point at the Sonoran Sun. We loved the new place, especially the enormous balconies. We watched dolphins from the balcony on our first day. The restaurant on site was also outstanding. In fact, we thought it was some of the best food we've had in Rocky Point. Two things we didn't like were the need to wear wrist bands for security and the need for room inspection upon check out. I don't recall that kind of suspicion at the Sonoran Spa. Overall, we loved the trip, however.

Sandy Beach is not what is used to be! I have been going down to Puerto Penasco since 1955, but had not been down for about five years. Wow! What a difference. Our stay at the Sornoran Sun was first class. It just keeps getting better and better. I cannot imagine how it will look in ten more years. Keep up the good work, we had a great time. If you go be sure to have breakfast at the new "The Reef Resturant", its great!

Beautiful I have been coming to Rocky Point for over 20 years and it just keeps getting better & better. The Sonoran Sun by far has been the BEST place I have stayed. Sonoran Sun We had a wonderful time at the Sonoran Sun. We rented a 2 bedroom condo that had plenty of room for the whole family of 6. We swam in the pools, enjoyed the hot tubs and we swam and snorkeled in the Sea. The view was awesome. We look forward to another trip in the near future.

Stop the fireworks It was our first stay. the unit we were in was not furnished very nice and the tv did not work. The fireworks at night never seem to stop. the guards do not attempt to control the fireworks or the teenagers using them. The people staying there do not respect the property, as there was cig butts all around the spa and spiting of sunflower seeds all around the pool. The winds were blowing but no attempt to clean up the pool deck the next day. Stay away from the resturant at the dinner hour unless you want loud rock and rool while you eat.Breakfast took almost an hour to get and it was over cooked and ice cold. Next time we will try another resort. We plan on going down alot over the next year as we purchased a condo and want to watch it being built. We are glad we purchased at a non rental place.

Nice place Overall it's a great resort. The on site restaraunt is pretty good. The view are awesome, the pools are crystal clear.
The only bad thindg was the smell of open sewere on the west buldings staircase. There were holes on the walls were the attempting to fix the problem. I'm not sure if they are still trying to fix it and that it is why they had left the holes in the wall. I stayed thee days and didn't see any one making repairs.

Unhappy Customer I will never stay at the Sonoran Sun again! We arrived at midnight, tired from the drive from Tucson. We were expecting that our condo would be prepared. Were we ever wrong! The first condo we were sent to was on the 4th floor. We lugged all of our luggage to the condo only to find that the bedding was on a chair, the pictures were not on the walls and the chandelier was in the middle of the kitchen floor. We could have worked around all that, BUT there was NO running water. So we were moved to the second floor of the same tower. Again, there was NO running water. THEN we were moved to the OTHER tower to the 4th floor. The lock was broken on the condo. Once again I went back to the office. We were sent down to the second floor. It was a one-bedroom unit and we had paid for a two-bedroom. By this time it was 2:00 in the morning and we were exhausted. Everytime I had gone into the office it felt like I was intentionally being jerked around. I walked in and asked if this was a game; if moving us around was funny to the frontdesk clerk. FINALLY the FIFTH time was the charm. We got sent back up to the 4th floor. Our room did not have working lightbulbs throughout the condo, but it was something we could deal with. We finally got settled into our room at 3:00 am. The next day we found out that the guest bathroom had hot water, but unfortunately the master bath (where I of course had gone to take my shower) did not. For all the money we paid for staying at the Sonoran Sun, I will most definitely NEVER stay there again. I have always had wonderful service at the Sonoran Sea and Spa and at the Princessa, but the Sun is definitely not a place I would recommend to anyone.

Beautiful condo with a great view This was our first stay at the Sun,and the experience was excellent. The condo was roomy and well decorated. The staff was very friendly, and helpful. My only complaint was that the swim up bar in the pool was a cash bar only. The drinks were served in styrofoam cups. I am sure they could charge to your room, and you pay at check out. All in all the place is beautiful,and worth the trip,and stay.

Exceeded expectations My friend and I stayed in unit SW711 9/24-9/26. When we opened the door to the condo the first time we were over joyed to see how beautifully decorated the room unit was, the great location over the pool, and the marvelous view of the ocean. The grounds of the resort are beautiful and well groomed. The other patrons are very friendly and the staff was very helpful. Overall we had a great trip! However, having stayed at other resorts with "pool service", I wish I would have known to bring my own beach towel/chair. Although there are lounges around the pool, there are no chairs on the beach to lay out on so we had to either sit directly on the sand or spend $10-15 buying a towel at the local shopping area. For the gym enthusiast, the gym area has a full circuit of cardio and weightlifting equipment. However, the equipment is not in the correct order for a circuit so you have to "seek and find" equipment and it interrupts the workout- but still very worthwhile. As far as construction, we did not hear any noise over the weekend but on Monday there was hammering in the attached unit as well as building happening on the new resort they are building next door so I am not sure what a mid-week stay. Again, overall this was such a wonderful trip. In fact my friend has already booked another trip there in 2 weeks to take her family.

Awesome Place This was one of the best trips I have taken in a while. The resort was amazing. The views and employees were fantastic. My only complaint was that the pool closed way too early. It was only open until 9:45PM and then you were asked to get out. I would recommend staying at the Sun for the best experience in Rocky Point.

This is a very nice resort Over all, we were very pleased with the accommodations and the resort as a whole. We did have a problem with our towels, apparently the laundry was out of commission and they took our dirty towels and never replaced them with clean ones. We came back from the beach and had no towels to dry ourselves with after our showers. When my husband complained and said that they shouldn't have taken the towels if they couldn't replace them, they said that their guests demand clean towels everyday, so they couldn't leave the dirty ones. I guess they didn't get it that towels that have been used once are better than no towels at all. Other than that, the place was great, the condo was very nice, and clean and roomy. The beds were great, we felt like we were sleeping on a cloud. As a suggestion, I would recommend that they think about having the beach cleaned daily like it is done in the bigger resort areas like Cancun, there was a lot of trash and seaweed in places. But the water was warm, and the weather was great. The pools were clean and the swim up bar was fun, although the prices were a little high. Not unusual for a resort, but we would have spent more if we hadn't felt we were being ripped off a little. They had no problem with us bringing our cooler with our own beers down to the pool and the beach, though, so that was cool. I guess the bottom line is that this is a very nice place, and I would recommend it - we had a great time.

Very Impressed I've stayed at many of the resorts and hotels in Rocky Point. The Sonoran Sun is by far the best one we've stayed at.. Great pool and beach area, plus great restaurant and lobby area. Its the best pool in Rocky Point!! We had the 3 bedroom room on the ground level and it was georgous.

Sonoran Sun-Pros and cons We stayed at the Sonoran Sun for two nights in August, and overall, we enjoyed it, except for the few inconveniences that we experienced. It is a beautiful resort, with nicely decorated condos. The pools are great, and the restaurant on the premises is actually good, as well as the swim up bar.
However, the first night we arrived, at around midnight, the Air conditioning in our unit cut out, and we were forced to move to the pull-out couch in the living room, just so we could sleep under a fan. That was horrible, considering Rocky Point is VERY hot and HUMID! We didn't go downstairs because it was late and we have a baby. The next day we complained, and it was fixed, and they apologized. Then, as we were taking a nap in the afternoon, the doorbell rang, and someone proceeded to open our door. Someone other than us and the housekeeping, had the key to our unit. The man apparently was the owner of the condo, but had no right coming in while it was being rented out. He apologized and left.
That night, we came in to the condo, and saw what looked like a huge bird flying in the living room. We didn't even go in, and went and called security. Apparently a huge moth, literally the size of a pigeon, had somehow gotten in (we had not opened the balcony door-still a mystery), and they used a net to remove it, and of course, apologized.
So you see, a few things occurred, and we feel we should have been compensated for these incidents.
In addition, there is so much about keeping the condo clean, security deposits, info on your website about rules and regulations, however, we did not find the condo very clean. The kitchen sink was not clean at all, and neither was the kitchen counter. We actually left the unit in better condition than we received it.
Having said all that, the place is really nice, maybe we just didn't have the best of luck, and perhaps next time, we can get a different unit. But the amenities are definitely luxury, and the staff was friendly. I would like to go there again, I am just a but hesitant. I would recommend it, and hopefully no birds will come visit the unit...

We Had A Great Time! The resort has just been opened. It wasn't so busy yet. We got an excellent service! It has nice condos with two(!!!) Tv sets, CD and DVD players, and all necessary kitchen and laundry appliences. The pools are large. We even had free breakfast at the restaurant. The food was delicious! We also got soda and water at the pool for free.
However, it was expensive. But it deserves it. We thank everybody who let us have a great time!
